Framed mixed media artefact consisting of hand stitched embroidery, on primitive cloth, surrounding a photograph of an unidentified man dressed in a naval uniform. 15 x 20 inches; 24 x 27 inches framed.

An 18th-century commonplace book , used as a cook book, predominantly written in a contemporary hand in black ink. Nearly two hundred and seventy food and beverage recipes from the 18th century. A second hand begins with the date of 1776, and contains twelve recipes. The final six leaves are blank. No specific compiler is identified, though many recipes indicate their source, e.g. Mrs. Broughton, Mrs. Goldsmith, etc.
