Scope and Contents

The allotment cards in this collection give roll number, member's Indian name, English equivalent and exact description and location of the allotted lands.

Each card measures approximately 3 11/16 inches by 8 1/4 inches and typically bears the roll number, English and/or Indian name, number of acres allotted and their exact location. Some cards are accompanied by plats. The cards DO NOT contain genealogical information.

This case is a lawsuit filed by the Plaintiffs alleging that the United States Secretary of the Interior established restrictive rules for voting privileges in Osage tribal elections, that the rules are therefore unconstitutional, and that the Defendants' organization and supervision of Osage tribal elections were a denial of equal protection of the laws...
