Mary Alice Robertson was born in 1854 at Tullahassee Mission the Creek country and lived long enough to watch the land of her birth go from Indian Territory to the state of Oklahoma and the little tribal village of Tulsey Town become be called Tulsa - the oil capital of the world. She also watched with pride while the institute she had nurtured as the Presbyterian School for Indian Girls became Henry Kendall College and then The University of Tulsa. In addition, she was the second woman elected to the Congress of the United States.
