Son of John Murrell and Elizabeth Dietrich; clerk in a Cleveland, TN mercantile store owned by Lewis Ross, brother of John Ross; husband of Minerva Ross (eldest daughter of Lewis Ross). George Murrell was appointed by Pres. Jackson to assist in the removal of the Cherokees from TN to Indian Territory. Built a residence near Park Hill named "Hunter's Home" also known as Murrell House.
