Jack C. Rea was a long-time Oklahoma resident (since the age of six months), graduate of the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry in 1947, he was a successful computer scientist and contributor to the early development of computers. Rea established the Ralph J. Kaufmann and E.A. Howard Endowed Scholarship for chemistry.

Five year diary kept by Jack Rea, USNR Radio Technician 849 52 94, Company 1574-44 between the dates of 19 July through 17 October (year unknown). In the diary, Rea recorded his training experiences and his on- and off-duty daily activities.
