Williams, W. D. (William Danforth), 1905-1984

William Danforth Williams was a High School teacher at Booker T. Washington and a student at this time during the race riots of 1921, a student of W.D.Williams later on recalled W.D. telling them his senior class had to cancel the prom and the graduation due to the turmoil May 31- June 1-1921 . His Spouse, Mary Sneed Robinson Williams, worked for Social Services as a case worker.

Scope and Contents The materials within the collection are predominantly the research materials and notes from various researchers. Other materials have been acquired from various sources between 1988 to present and includes photographs, photocopies of the local press coverage, articles and essays on the subject, an annotated map, a video recording and photographs of the riot and its aftermath. Also included is a video recording of the Weller Grossman production of "In Search of History: The Night Tulsa Burned"...
