Lieutenant-General Sir Francis Nicholson was a British Army general and colonial official who served as the Governor of South Carolina from 1721 to 1725.

Scope and Contents This document is endorsed: "Presents to ye Indians sent in ye Expedition to Annapolis {Royal, Nova Scotia)." The Indians in question accompanied Sir Francis Nicholson in his expedition against Acadia {Nova Scotia). He captured Port Royal in 1710 and renamed it Annapolis Royal in honor of Queen Anne.The presents include paint, cloth, Indian kettles, "sloping knives," powder, looking glasses, and 500 tomahawks.
