Scott with 7,000 American forces totally routed the whole Mexican Army, numbering 32,000 men commanded by Genl. Santa Anna. American loss in killed and wounded about 1,100 men. Mexican loss: killed and wounded 7,000 men !!, ran away Santa Anna and 25,000 Mexicans !!!”

Army since the commencement of the war with Mexico. After the battle had lasted about two hours, our troops got into position to close with the enemy at the point of a bayonet which resulted in their entire defeat.
