"Dear Mr. Squire, When I had the pleasure of meeting you at the First Edition Club dinner I was arranging to take your advice on the question of broadcasting talks about modern poetry. I have been obliged to abandon that scheme for the present, as I am engaged in writing the life of "E. Nesbit" for Messrs. Ernest Benn, her present publishers. Her son, Dr. John Bland, has given me to understand that you were acquainted with Mrs. Bland, and that if he is not mistaken, you were one of the many distinguished visitors she entertained at Well Hall..."
