Content Description
Frontier diary kept by a member of the Kansas Volunteer Cavalry, with entries dating from Dec 1863 to Jun 1891. Includes accounts of encounters with the Sioux and Cheyenne, with 2 brief handwritten draft summaries of diary entries (both dated in 1973).
Materials laid in: one blue ribbon with inscription "3d Annual Reunion, 11th Kansas Vol. Cav., Topeka, Kas. Sept. 29, 1885" ; two leaves of lined note paper, one dated 27 Oct [19]73, and 28 Jun 1973, each with handwritten notes on the manuscript. These have been housed in individual envelopes in box.
