Biographical / Historical
Thomas “Bruce” Luckett was born 6 December 1919, and grew up in Tulsa. He attended Central High School, and later the University of Tulsa, graduating in 1941 with a BS. As a young man, he was a scale modeler who was interested in flying. In 1936, he won a number of flying model contests, including the Mulvihill Trophy with a flight of 41 minutes and 41 seconds. In addition, he placed fourth in the Moffett Trophy finals. In November of 1941 he joined the U. S. Army Air Corps, and was eventually killed 24 August 1944, when his P-51D Mustang was shot down near Reesen, Germany.
