Minnie Allen WWI-era scrapbook, 1918-1919
Content Description
50 leaves of black mounting paper, of which 32 have photos, documents, mementos, letters, drawings, etc attached, including: over 10 official documents accomplished in typescript or manuscript, including Allen's' photographic and finger-printed War Department Certificate of Identity; 7 mimeographed documents, including the satirical "Ten Commandments For the Red Cross nurses at Camp Cody." 12 pieces of correspondence of which 6 are signed (the remaining signed in facsimile; 4 original hand-colored drawings by the same artist, presumably a convalescing soldier with a rauchy sense of humor;p 4 telegrams from Allen to her sister Mary; 3 unsigned notes; 19 news clippings; and 89 pieces of miscellaneous ephemera, including a manuscript poem dedicated to Minnie; 120 photographs, many captioned. Some items are laid in.
