George W. Fields Papers, 1920-1925
Scope and Contents
George W. Fields was an attorney for the Texas Cherokees. Three documents relate to the contract for Field's services, and one is the account of the Proceedings of the General Council of Texas Cherokees and Associated Bands empowering him to act in the matter of the claim against the State of Texas.
One typed, bound manuscript, dated 1920, is entitled "The Texas Cherokees, 1820-1839" and has ninety-two pages. There is also a duplicate. Another typed manuscript "Texas Cherokee Case" by William Sulzer who was former Chairman of the Committee for Indian Affairs (in the House) has twenty-two pages.
