Biographical / Historical
The Articles were adopted the 15th of November, 1777, and this "draft" was sent to the King of Prussia on the 14th of February, 1777. It differs slightly from the original in Washington. It begins: "Articles of Confederation and perpetual Union between the States of New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay Rhode-Island, Connecticut, New-York, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania, The Counties of New Castle, Kent and Sussex on Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North-Carolina, South-Carolina, and Georgia. Art.1 The name of this Confederacy shall be 'The United States of America'..."
