A collection of 32 B/W snapshots and 2 photo-postcards, some featuring a possible family member and other soldiers serving in the US military during WWII. Also included are B/W snapshots of military equipment, destroyed structures, cityscapes, landscapes, plus a handful of unrelated snapshots.

Scope and Contents Consists of 80 postcards, most of which are written by Corporal Alton Conrad Rowe, Jr. (Co. A, 301st Engineers AEF) to family members and to his fiance; mailed from Camp Devens (Massachusetts) as well as various places in France and Germany such as Paris, Coblenz, and Metz.The black & white, tinted, or full-color, postcards are comprised of photographic reproductions, artist's renderings and 2 actual photograph cards.The postcards are addressed as follows: 8...

Scope and Contents

The military records, service medals and insignia, photo albums, scrapbook and personal ephemera of George Akira Doi, who served during WWII in the 100th Infantry Division, an otherwise all-white unit. He saw combat in Europe and was decorated as “unquestionably the company’s best soldier.” George Akira Doi was the maternal grandfather of Kristi Yamaguchi (Olympic Gold Medalist figure skater).

Five year diary kept by Jack Rea, USNR Radio Technician 849 52 94, Company 1574-44 between the dates of 19 July through 17 October (year unknown). In the diary, Rea recorded his training experiences and his on- and off-duty daily activities.

17 black/white photographs featuring scenes of the allied victory parade in Paris, August 1944. Images include views of marching American, French and United Kingdom military divisions; armored cars, personnel carriers and howitzers; the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, and Place de la Concorde; crowds of French civilians; and dignitaries such as Charles de Gaulle and Winston Churchill.

Scope and Contents U.S. Army, World War II photo album documenting Richard Kenneth Lee's activities from Fort McClellan, Alabama to India (India-Burma Air Service Command, Karachi Air Base), 1942-1945. Richard Lee was with the US Air Force 479th Bomb Squadron.
