Colored lithograph of "The Death of the Gallant Major Ringgold. Who was mortally wounded during the engagement of the 8th May and died on the 10th 1846." Ringgold was considered to be the 'Father of Modern Artillery' and may have been the first U. S. officer killed in the Mexican War.
