Biography

J. Neilson Barry was a researcher and prolific writer of Pacific Northwest history. He was a trained Episcopal priest, but he retired in 1922 and dedicated himself to historical research. In the mid-1930s, Barry became fascinated with John Colter, a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Scope and Contents

This artificial collection was begun as a catch-all for small single gifts and purchases, and to make them easier for scholars to search them. This assemblage consists primarily of documents, correspondence, photographs, broadsides and artifacts, dealing mostly with United States history.
