Hoatson, Alice, 1859-approximately 1944
Biography
Friend of Edith Nesbit. Hoatson became pregnant by Hubert Bland, which caused Nesbit and Bland to fight. Nesbit wanted Hoatson and the baby to leave, but Bland threatened to leave Nesbit. Hoatson remained in the household as the housekeeper. She became pregnant by Bland again 13 years later. Edith Nesbit adopted both of Hoatson's children and raised them as her own.
