The manuscripts include handwritten fragments of Astoria (ca. 1836) and The Sketch Book (ca. 1820s); handwritten manuscript of a tribute to Irving and a tribute to Irving excised from the records of the New York and Massachusetts Historical Society; press cuttings of various Irving obituaries and obituaries of family relations; two engraved, signed portraits of Irving; and a sample of Irving's signature.
