"Dear Mrs Bland, I hope you will not regard it as impertinence for me to write and thank you for the books you have written. I think the first one I read was "The Railway Children" and one very kind and sensible friend presented me with "The Treasure Seekers" and "The Magic World". All the rest I have read in various places, with I am afraid only two exceptions, and most of them over and over again..."
