Transcribed copy of the original letter.

Scope and Contents

"My dear Sir, I have had such a terrific week of political and professional work that I have been unable to touch any of my private correspondence until this morning when I am "slacking" it in my garden instead of attending church. It is a real relaxation to answer your pleasant letter which I will gum into one of your "Mate's" books:- I wish I had met her - I often inteded trying to do so - but the busy world runs on and we let opportunities slide unmtil it is too late..."
