Calder-Marshall, Arthur to "My dearest wife" [Alice Calder-Marshall], [Russian abbreviation] 14/20 '18
Scope and Contents
Photocopy of the original letter. It is unclear why these letters are included with the collection, and may have been a separate research project that Julia Briggs was working on.
Also notable is Calder-Marshall's system of writing dates. He may have been using the Soviet Calendar, which dropped 2 weeks from February 1918.
"My dearest Wife, We are getting no posts in and no couriers at present so there is no hope of getting any letters from you. I also don't think there are many posts or couriers going out so I suppose you aren't getting many letters from me. Still there is no means of telling with any great degree of certainty as it is just - as will to wish even though it will probably be weeks and maybe months before you get it if you even do get it..."
