Photocopy of the original letter. It is unclear why these letters are included with the collection, and may have been a separate research project that Julia Briggs was working on.
"My dearest Wife, I am sitting here by candlelight waiting for this fire to die down sufficiently for me to shut the damper before I go to bed for I am pretty tired tonight and I do [?] as sick of the candle light. Tonight for instance I had sat at my desk from 3.0 to 11.0 with 1 1/2 hours off for dinner writing all the time for now we have no shorthand girls and I have to draft everything..."
