Calder-Marshall, Arthur to "My own darling wife" [Alice Calder-Marshall], Tuesday
Scope and Contents
Photocopy of the original letter. It is unclear why these letters are included with the collection, and may have been a separate research project that Julia Briggs was working on.
"My own darling Wife, Thanks so much for your letter and the key which I am returning as it is not for the suit case I have but is for the one you have. We have arrived here quite safely and are both enjoying Russian food very much. The Hotel is quite comfortable and we have all our meals out except tea and rolls in the morning and tea at night. I have forgotten an awful lot of my Russian but am picking it up a little now. It will be hard work though and I have to devote all my spare time to it..."
