Scope and Contents

"My dearest Wife, I don't know whether you are getting my letters but I do know that I am not getting yours. I shall be sorry if you haven't got mine because we have been having really exciting times lately as you know and I can't go on telling you all about it in letter after letter in case they have gone astray, so this time I will just say that everything was most interesting at times somewhat resembling life in the trenches with the difference that for two or three days we did not quite know who were enemies and who were friends, but now it is all quite quiet and I hope will remain so..."
