Scope and Contents

"My own dearest Wife, It is weeks since I heard from you and I have been wondering very much how you all are, how you like the new house, how your ear is and whether you have got servants or not. I have also been wondering whether you have been getting my letters. In the last one I had from you, you acknowledged having had three letters all together so it looks as if they got through eventually even though late and judging that it will be the same time at this end I am expecting to get a batch of about a dozen all together..."
