"My own dearest Wife, I am writing by candle light tonight as the light has just gone out. I have knocked off work in consequence because the work I was doing demanded a good light. First of all I congratulate you on having had the aeroplanes so near you without any damage being done because it is probable that you have now had your turn and wont' have another for at any rate some time to come. I was also most interested in what you told me about Epsom Downs and am sure that the people who camped out there must have had a most uncomfortable time for at this time of the year they are the reverse of warm or pleasant..."
