Photocopy of the original letter. It is unclear why these letters are included with the collection, and may have been a separate research project that Julia Briggs was working on.
"My dearest Wife, Did I tell you in my last letter about my bag, I forget. Anyhow on the way back from Moscow although I had the door locked and on the chain someone managed to open both lock and chain and stole my suit case while I was asleep. With it went my watch and gold chain you gave me, the nice case of brushes, my new razor, all my business papers, my war service [...] and certificate, my certificate for the Russian War Office, my passport, about 500 roubles and about 30 roubles worth of stamps I had collected for you, some of your letters, clothes, collars, and collar studs, portfolios, tobacco, and all parts of odds and ends such as our..."
