"My dearest Wife, Once more I am writing in the train to take advantage of the time. The trouble which I mentioned in my last letter developed somewhat on Tuesday last and we had to close the office at midday. There was shouting on Monday night, Tuesday midday and late Tuesday night and my cabman was rather afraid to take me to the station on my way to Moscow but we got there alright. Wednesday and Thursday were fairly quiet but each day there was some shooting and on Friday they had a small battle in one part of the city..."
