"Dear Sir, I shall be 80 in 11 days time. Before my body and soul dissolve our acrimonious partnership, I would like to find an asylum for my archive, where it might be useful. None of my books are currently in print. I have a memoir of the [Thinkies?] which Macmillan wanted to publish, but I withdrew it for private reasons. It's possible that when I die, The Magic of My Youth much of which covers my residence at Hartford 1927-1930 will find a publisher. And it is possible that the novel on which I'm working (279 pp. of the 4th and [...] before typing) will come to an end before I do..."
