Ernest Benn Ltd. to Doris Langley Moore, 1932-03-11
Scope and Contents
Written by [Sir Ernest Benn?]
"Dear Mrs. Moore, I am so sorry not to have replied to your very friendly letter before. I have been wrestling with the various people here responsible for the selection of books. In this office we are rather believers in the 'one man, one job' method, but there is one stage in the history of any book at which one man's word is not enough, and that is the actual acceptance or rejection. This must be a matter for a committee; we have our reports on your early chapters and these are excellent, but there are still some members of our committee who take the view that we need not say yes or not to your book until we have the complete manuscript..."
