"Dear Mrs. Moore, Many thanks for your letter. I am so very sorry to have kept you waiting so long. The fact is that our people have enjoyed reading your book very much indeed, but that they are divided into two camps. One party is quite convinced that the book will be successful, and knowing that it will enormously relieve your mind to have any doubts about publication removed at this stage, is anxiuous to say without further delay "we accept with delight." But unfortunately the other party, while believing that if you carry on as you begun you will produce a most interesting book about an interesting woman, declined to believe that any considerable number of people will want to read about E.
