"Dear Mr Norris, I am glad you will be able to undertake the job I telegraphed you about. It is very urgent, but I think fairly plain-sailing. The point is that my publishers, Messrs Ernest Benn, have asked me to write a bibliography for the Nesbit book, of which I have received the proofs, and I have been held up by an operation for appendicitis which has delayed us seriously. What is required is merely that you should check up the enclosed list from the Museum catalogue, and complete it where necessary..."
