Moore, Doris Langley to John Bland, 1932-11-19
Scope and Contents
Transcribed copy of the original letter.
"Dear Dr. Bland, I scarcely know how to thank you for your generous letter, and would have answered it post-haste if it were not that I have to dictate my correspondence from my bed, since I find long spells of writing by hand very tiring. I am indeed glad that the book satisfies you. It seems to have proved equally congenial to Mrs Sharp, and somewhat less so to Mrs Philips. I regret to hear that Skipper and your brother do not approve of it (though the grounds of Skipper's disapproval seem to lie chiefly in his own modesty), but after all it was beyond the uttermost summits of my ambition to write what would please five people not all of the same generation or outlook..."
