"Dear Skipper, I am so intensely sorry to be always bothering you but there is no alternative. Among the letters you sent me, which I copied and reproduced, there was one from Andrew Lang which you will find on page 176 of the accompanying proof. Towards the end of it there is a line in which something appears to have been left out, and I am afraid it was mis-copied by my secretary..."
