"Dear Mr Benn, In sending me the proofs of the Nesbit book, which I received on Saturday, your production department asked me to have ready within a fortnight an Index and a Foreword. I have today written to Miss Clemence Dane asking her if she could possibly let me have the Foreword within this time, but I very strongly doubt it, as she is just about to sail for Hollywood..."
