"Dear Skipper, After having been able to leave you undisturbed for a few months, I find I must once more bother you with one or two queries. You will be glad to know that I am getting near the end of the book, but the work has been much heavier than I anticipated in every way, and it has taken longer than I or Messrs. Ernest Benn bargained for. The present enquiry is this:- I should very much like to know in what year E. Nesbit received the distinction of a State pension..."
