"Dear Sir, I have the honour to inform you that I am writing a biography of the late "E. Nesbit," under an Agreement with Messrs. Ernest Benn, the present publishers of her works for children. I understand from Mr. Graily Hewitt that you were personally acquainted with Mrs. Bland, and he thinks you may be kind enough to furnish me with some recollections which may be of value to me..."
