"Dear Miss Dane, Thank you very much for your letter of the 19th. You are extremely kind, and I appreciate your generosity, for I know that you are busy and probably besieged with requests. I send you a copy, taken straight from the original of your first letter to "E. Nesbit". It was such a nice letter - so free from any attempt to be "grand" - or patronising, or impressive..."
