"Dear Mrs Sharp, I am sending you with this a copy of my book Pandora's Letterbox, which I think might possibly interest you. If you read it, you must make allowance for the fact that it was written in 1929 and that the fashions I was describing are natural in a continual state of flux. I do not think, however, that the book is yet entirely out of date. It is such a very differnet[sic] style from the one that I now have the privilege of working on that it represents my farewell to a certain phase..."
