"Dear Sir, I trust that in addressing myself to you on the following subject I am not in error, but I have been given to understand that you will probably be able to assist me:- I am writing the life of "E. Nesbit," (Mrs. Hubert Bland until 1917, when she became Mrs. Tucker) who lived at Well Hall, Eltham for about 24 years. I have been informed that Well Hall was one of those ancient homes which the members of your Society were in the habit of visiting from time to time on account of its antiquarian interest..."
