"Dear Lord Dunsany, I am glad to hear that all's well with the play, and I won't give away the secret of the vengeance of the green gods. Though I am inclined to think that audiences hate surprises. They like to see the people on the stage being surprised, and to feel superior, because they, the intelligent audience, know all about it..."
