Nesbit, Edith to Ada Breakell, undated
Scope and Contents
Transcribed copy of the original letter.
Nesbit addresses the letter to "Adah".
"Adah[sic], my dear, I got your letter last night. Thanks awfully - I have not gone to Miss Macbeans after all, as circumstances over wh. no control prevented M from going to Manchester, and I did not care to leave her alone at Mount Pleasant. I am spending the morning here, as I am going to meet Mr Bland at noon, - I have invested in a whole pen'north of this paper and am warding off the insidious attacks of Satan by myself finding occupation for my hands. Yesterday was awfully pleasant. Mr Bland and I went to Halstead and had no end of a "nice time" - we went into the woods - sat about - caught (and kissed) a chaffinch - had lunch in the kitchen of a funny old-fashioned Inn..."
