"My dearest Harry, Thank you for your nice long letter. Do just what you like with the poem - and if you get any money for it give the same to Collis as a little present from his Aunt. I think the idea of the last verse is all right, but I agree with you that it might have been more poetically expressed. On the other hand I felt it needful to condense at that point. Salmone was written for £200 down (on account of royalty) and finished and typed in exactly 30 days!..."
