"Dear Madam, Many thanks for returning the E.Nesbit[sic] letters so promptly. I have nothing more to say about our single meeting. It was at the rooms in Hampstead of Mr and Mrs Oswald Cox, no doubt in 1896. I was invited to breakfast with the express object of the meeting. Breakfast is a bad time for me as for most people, and the object of showing myself to a famous writer was still worse..."
