"Dear Mrs Langley Moore, I am verysorry[sic] to have disappointed you and given you the trouble of writing again. I have been very full of work during the hours I have correspondence: and the fact is that my memory of the years when I knew Hubert and Edith Bland well is now very sketchy. I doubt if I [can; struckout] could tell you anything that would add to the interest of your memoir. I first [met; struckout] noticed the Blands in the winter of 1882-3: they were a conscpicuous couple, frequenting the same sort of public meetings at that time, as I did: but I don't think I came to know them till the Fabian Society was being formed..."
