"Dear Mrs. Moore, Thank you for your letter of November 24th. We control all Swinburne copyrights and we shall be very glad to give you permission to quote in your biography of E. Nesbit the letter which Swinburne wrote to Philip Bourke Marsden..."
"Dear Mr Evans, As you know I am writing a biography of E. Nesbit for Messrs Earnest[sic] Benn. I wonder if you could do me a favour in this connection. In 1886 Swinburne wrote a very interesting letter about E. Nesbit's poetry to his friend, Philip Bourke Marsden, which was printed in Sir Edmund Gosse's collection of Swinburne's letters published by you. Nesbit's eldest son wrote to Sir Edmund Gosse at the time and asked who owned the original of this letter..."
"My dear Philip, Some days ago I called Watts's attention to what struck me as the remarkable merit of some of the poems in a volume I had lately received from the author, poems which reminded me in some of their finger characters, rather of your own than of any other contemporary's. I am naturally much interested to hear of your connection with the author..."
