A Posse Service Document for William Dunn, 1896-10-4
Scope and Contents
One sheet with all information filled in with ink by both J. W. Dunn, Deputy U. S. Marshall, and P. S. Nagle, U. S. Marshall for Oklahoma Territory, with each signature duly notarized. William Dunn served on the posse from October 4th until August 29th, 1896, a period of 26 days for which he was to be paid at the rate of $3.00 per day for a total due him of $78.00. The goal of the posse was to capture and arrest Dan Clifton, alias Dynamite Dick, and others. The posse was unsuccessful to capture him and his gang. Dynamite Dick was a notorious Oklahoma outlaw and was principally a train robber, who used dynamite frequently to blow open the mail cars.
