Biographical / Historical

The Kodak No. 2A Brownie is a box camera that uses 116 film, it was introduced in 1907 and discontinued in 1936. It was sold in the USA between 1907 and 1936, and in the UK between 1930 and 1936. After 1924 coloured versions were introduced, in the USA there were five colours; red, grey, green, brown, blue and the standard black; in the UK there were four colours; brown, blue, claret, green and standard black. The camera had various small changes over its life apart from the coloured versions the biggest changes occurred in 1924 when the camera was upgraded to an aluminium body were it was previously cardboard, tripod sockets were added and the film carrier was now metal as well. A smaller change in 1932 swapped the key style advance for a knob style one.
