Biographical / Historical
The Ansco Viking 6.3 is a folding 6×9 cm medium format camera manufactured by Agfa in 1952. The Ansco Viking 6.3 takes eight 6cm x 9cm (2.25 in x 3.75 in) photos on a standard roll of 120 format film. According to a name plate on camera, it was manufactured for Ansco by Agfa Camera Werk, München, US Zone, Germany. The camera includes an 105mm Agfa Agnar Anastigmatic, hard-coated lens. Aperture settings are f/6.3, f/8, f/11, f/16, and f/22. A Vario shutter provides speed settings of 1/200, 1/50, 1/25, and Bulb. Controls and features on the camera include shutter speed, aperture, shutter cocking lever, shutter release button, film winding knob, back latch, platform release button, cable release socket, M-Sync flash connector, tripod socket, and an accessory shoe for a flashgun or rangefinder. An optional leather carrying case was available, the Ansco Everready Case JN-450.
